Hello, a mix for fall!
*To play the full songs listed below, I recommend viewing this post on substack on a computer.*
Mixed bag including more acoustic songs than usual this week for fall. Maybe this title too tongue-in-cheek but Nico is so appropriate for fall, I included two tracks from Chelsea Girl; Colombian sisters Elia and Elizabeth Fleta, whose album I found at a record store in April and have been listening to since; this track from Chicago indie rockers the Sea and the Cake (Prekop, McEntire, and Prewitt, Prekop and McEntire’s recent electronic collaboration is one of my favorite albums this year) which is more of a spring tune maybe; more 70s strumming with Bread; a tune from MPB classic Chico Buarque’s Construção, highly recommend; another Nico song from the same album; and finally, of course, One September Day by Nina Simone. :)
The Fairest of the Seasons - Nico
En Los Dias Que Era Demaciado - Elia y Elizabeth
Jacking the Ball - The Sea and the Cake
Games of Magic - Bread
Desalento - Chico Buarque
Eulogy to Lenny Bruce - Nico
One September Day - Nina Simone
*streaming can be a great, accessible way to discover new music and an easy way for me to embed playlists into my posts, but I would encourage, if possible, supporting the artists through other platforms and exploring the rest of their work*
